Thank you, UFM!

A snowy day in early April. Sigh… But also, a fitting day to say thank you to those often forgotten employees on campus that help us tolerate it!

Kent State’s University Facilities Management provides comprehensive maintenance of 137 academic, administrative, athletic, and residence hall buildings on a 24 hour, 7 days-a-week schedule. The department also maintains 941 contiguous acres of rolling hills, woods, and manicured greens. One of the responsibilities included in this… snow removal, which is one heavy lift considering the size of the university.

On behalf of all the students at Kent State, FLASHanthropy wanted to remind everyone of the hard work UFM does, as well as say thank you and pay it flash forward to our UFM employees today! Thank you for everything you do to keep the university looking as beautiful as it is, and to keep us safe as well.

FLASHanthropy Nominated for Awards

FLASHanthropy is once again excited for the Kent State Center for Student Involvement’s Student Leaders & Honors Awards reception again next Tuesday! The organization has certainly come a long way since 2013, with some amazing students pushing student philanthropic education and participation forward! Here’s a look at last year’s awards:

FLASHANTHROPY (back to back)

This award is given to three registered student organizations for outstanding contributions to its members and the student body as a whole. The recipient will be an organization whose members have demonstrated a strong ability to promote its ideals, have used innovative methods in reaching goals, and whose members have made significant contributions to Kent State University.

Theresa Medrano

This award was created in memory of Cindy Bowlby, a dedicated student leader at Kent. In the spirit of her ideals, this award is presented to a returning (non-graduating) student leader who has demonstrated excellence in his or her scholarship, leadership, and integrity.

Angela Ehrich (back to back)

This award is given to no more than nine student leaders each year. Members of organizations may be nominated by their peers or advisors.
